Watches at Ambani Wedding Were Pure Heaven

There are weddings, and then there's the wedding of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant – worth more than the GDP of a small nation, might we add. The extravagant affair made headlines for its jaw-dropping gifts, including Audemars Piguet watches worth approximately US$ 240,000 each. These limited-edition timepieces, part of the Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar series, were presented to 25 elite guests, such as Bollywood superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Ranveer Singh. But that's not all – the groom himself showcased an impressive collection of watches and jewelry throughout the festivities. 

Let's take a closer look at Anant and his guests’ exquisite taste in luxury timepieces.

Anant Ambani

During the wedding festivities, which lasted for several months, the groom wore not one, not two but three exquisite timepieces. One was the Richard Mille RM 52-05 Manual Winding Tourbillon "Pharrell Williams Sapphire", of which there are only 8 in the world. Then there was the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Double Balance Wheel Openworked White Gold with Baguette-cut Diamonds & Sapphires Piece Unique. And, of course, Ambani also wore one of the most expensive watches made by Patek Philippe – the Grand Complications Minute Repeater Perpetual Calendar Platinum with Baguette-cut Diamonds 42MM. 

Shah Rukh Khan

Bollywood legend Shah Rukh Khan was one of the 25 lucky ones to receive this generous gift from Ambani – the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Rose Gold 41MM. This luxurious timepiece is equipped with a 41 mm case of exquisite 18K rose gold and a screw-locked crown. The back showcases a sapphire crystal, boasting a thickness of 9.5 mm with a diameter of 29 mm. The dial is also crafted in rose gold, featuring a stunning Grande Tapisserie pattern. Its inner bezel matches the same hue, while the watch runs on the impressive Manufacture Caliber 5134 self-winding movement. This masterpiece includes a perpetual calendar function displaying week indication, day, date, astronomical moon, month, leap year, as well as hours and minutes. 

Salman Khan

Another member of Bollywood royalty – actor and producer Salman Khan – was among the attendees at Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s wedding. The star didn’t disappoint with his watches of choice (you heard right, there were two). The first one was the Patek Philippe Aquanaut Luce “Rainbow” Haute Joaillerie Minute Repeater Rose Gold with Diamonds & Sapphires 38.8MM, whose estimated market value is a handsome US$ 4 million. Ranbir Kapoor

One of the highest-paid actors in Hindi cinema and a regular on the Forbes India list, Ranbir Kapoor, also attended the wedding of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant. Kapoor’s watch of choice was fit for true royalty; he wore the Patek Philippe Grand Complications Perpetual Calendar Chronograph in Platinum. This extravagant timepiece was mounted on a black leather strap and studded with beautiful baguette-cut emeralds on its bezel and lugs. 

Priyanka Chopra

Award-winning actress who not only dominated Bollywood screens but is also a Hollywood A-lister, Priyanka Chopra, was one of the guests of honor at the Ambani wedding. The star, known for her unmatched style, did not disappoint – she wore a beautifully embroidered orange lehenga by Tarun Tahiliani and matched it with a masterpiece of high jewelry and horology from Bvlgari. Her Serpenti Incantati timepiece had a rose gold case and bracelet, studded in diamonds and rubellites, that resembled the body of a snake. 

Nick Jonas

Actor, singer, sex symbol, and, most importantly, Priyanka Chopra’s husband, Nick Jonas, attended the Ambani wedding with his better half. The Disney Channel alumni wore a stunning Richard Mille watch – the RM 11-01 Automatic Flyback Chronograph “Roberto Mancini” in red gold. This piece, named after the legendary ex-footballer Roberto Mancini, boasts a sophisticated annual calendar, a dynamic flyback chronograph with a central minutes counter, and a dial divided into segments of play. Ranveer Singh

Bollywood actor and another member of Forbes India’s Celebrity list, Ranveer Singh, is one of the most stylish men in the country, so it came as no surprise that he was also bestowed with the honor of attending the fabulous Ambani wedding. In line with his bold style choices, Singh wore a Rolex Daytona “Rainbow” in Everose Gold. As you might’ve guessed already, the watch got its name thanks to the plethora of colorful sapphires adorning its bezel and hour markers. 

Arjun Kapoor

Bollywood actor Arjun Kapoor stunned at the wedding of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant in his golden outfit embellished with blinding sequins. Kapoor matched his extravagant outfit with a Rolex Daytona cast in yellow gold with a yellow sunburst dial and start black subdials. 

Hardik Pandya

Cricket superstar Hardik Pandya was another guest at the star-studded Ambani wedding. Pandya wore two outfits – black and white – both featuring traditional jackets with intricate embroidery. And, it would only be fitting for a personality of such caliber, to match these looks with exquisite watches. Pandya’s choices were: Patek Philippe Nautilus Platinum with Baguette-cut Emeralds 40MM (which he matched with a pear-cut emerald necklace of white gold) and Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Frosted Rose Gold Double Balance Wheel Openworked with Baguette-cut “Rainbow” Gems 41MM, styled with a stunning gold necklace.

Hrithik Roshan

What’s the boldest watch choice one can make when attending a wedding so extravagant and full of excess? A timepiece covered in diamonds so pure it requires sunglasses to be worn around it? Or perhaps one with all the complications under the sun at once? We beg to differ. The most outrageous watch in this context would be a simple yet elegant Rado, like the HyperChrome XXL Automatic Chronograph Indian actor and legendary dancer Hrithik Roshan was wearing. 

AP Dhillon

Singer, rapper, and record producer commonly associated with Punjabi music, AP Dhillon arrived at the Ambani wedding dressed like a whole snack. Dhillon wore a Rolex Yacht-Master in yellow gold, mounted upon a rubber strap with – wait for it – baguette-cut diamonds covering its bezel and lugs. 

John Cena

It was quite a surprise to see the professional wrestler, comedy actor, and the invisible man himself, John Cena at the wedding of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant. His timepiece of choice for the occasion was the simple Rolex Explorer II in steel with a white dial and an orange 24-hour hand. 

Sakshi Singh Dhoni

Wife of the former Indian cricket team captain MS Dhoni, Sakshi Singh Dhoni was also in attendance at the wedding of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant. Her sari, bestrewn with beads and crystals matched only her watch in its grandeur. Singh Dhoni wore a Rolex Day-Date 36 Everose Gold with diamonds laid all over its dial and the central link of its bracelet. And, naturally, the hour markers of this timepiece were replaced with colorful sapphires. 

Jackie Shroff

A Bollywood actor with a career that spans four decades, Jackie Shroff came to the Ambani wedding wearing a simple yet tasteful black-and-white ensemble, which he styled with an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Selfwinding in Yellow Gold. This elegant watch featured a pearlescent white grand tapisserie dial and hour markers brimmed with yellow gold. 

Rema

Nigerian singer Rema was among the artists invited to perform at the Ambani wedding. Like any famous hip-hop artist, he wore a luxurious watch: a Rolex Day-Date in yellow gold with a stunning fluted bezel and a sunburst yellow dial.
