Small Cartier Watches Are All The Rage Among Celebrities

You’ve read it on the pages of magazines, you’ve heard about it in your earphones when listening to your favorite queer-hosted fashion podcast, and now we are telling you this: small Cartier watches are all the rage now. Over the past year or so, interest in Cartier’s petite models like Tank, Santos, Crash, and Baignoire has resurged. This trend skyrocketed when, in 2023, the maison relaunched the coveted Baignoire Bangle, which reached a cult status among collectors and celebrities – both male and female.

Dwyane Wade and His Green Tank Louis Cartier

Professional basketball player and now a game TV show host, Dwyane Wade, is a prominent watch collector – with a flair for Cartier watches at that. One timepiece of his that captured our attention was, of course, the much-coveted emerald-green Tank Louis Cartier. This is a modern rendition of the beloved Tank (first launched in 1917) that was presented during the 2023 edition of Watches & Wonders. This watch features a green lacquered dial of impressive depth uncomplicated by indices or hour markers. A unique feature of this timepiece is an elegant crown set with cabochon sapphire and diamonds. 

Sebastian Stan and His Panthère de Cartier

Actor Sebastian Stan has a rather refined taste in watches, after all, he’s been spotted wearing pieces like Bvlgari Octo Finissimo, TAG Heuer Carrera Date, Cartier Crash, and, most recently, Panthère de Cartier. The latter appeared on Stan’s wrist at the 67th Cannes Film Festival. This variation of Panthère was in perfect harmony with the event’s glamor – the square dial with rounded edges and Roman numerals looked beautiful against the diamond-set bezel, while the maison’s signature double bracelet made the whole timepiece appear masculine and sensual. 

Tyler The Creator and His Must de Tank Cartier

A true rarity in the watch world, the Tank Must with Arabic numerals is a prized possession. Seen here on the wrist of rapper and social media phenomenon Tyler The Creator is reference 2415, crafted from sterling silver and coated in solid gold. Its petite 30mm x 22mm case houses a simple two-hand quartz movement. Tyler boldly pairs his with a vibrant green crocodile strap, which effortlessly complements his unique style. This piece, much like most in the rapper’s collection, emphasizes his “anti-bling” stance. 

Jeff Goldblum and His Cartier Tank Solo

The Jeff Goldblum renaissance, which began in 2019 (due to his role in Marvel films) brought with it a heap of fashion moments – from his appearances at shows and campaigns (thank you, Miuccia Prada), to his ever-so-refreshing and highly publicized street style moments. In his watch choices, Goldblum doesn’t stray too far away from the status of a tastemaker either. One of his favorites is a true classic – Cartier Tank Solo with its gold rectangular dial, Roman numerals, and a cabochon sapphire on the crown. 

Rami Malek and His Cartier Tank Américaine

Academy Award-winning actor Rami Malek is an admirer of Cartier watches, which isn’t particularly surprising, given how he’s been starring in the brand’s advertising campaigns for a few years. To the 2019 Oscars ceremony (during which he bagged the Best Actor win), Malek wore a Tank Américaine – a more elongated cousin of the classic tank, which sometimes flies under the radar. This one retains Tank’s iconoclastic Roman numerals yet also embodies a more minimalist design language – its crown, for example, is less prominent and features a faceted spinel instead of a cabochon sapphire.
