The honorees and guests at the 2024 BET Awards know a thing or two about watches. Here’s who wore what.
Last night’s Black Entertainment Television Awards (BET Awards) was a true spectacle. Hosted by actress Taraji P. Henson, the ceremony opened with an electrifying act by Megan Thee Stallion. It included performances by stars like Chlöe Bailey, Childish Gambino, Keke Palmer, Tinashe, Latto, and CoCo Jones.
At the ceremony, R&B icon Usher received the Lifetime Achievement Award, while SZA won in the Best Female R&B / Pop Artist category and Tyla bagged the Best New Artist Award.
Not only did the incredible performances and provocative speeches (like the one delivered by Donald Glover aka Childish Gambino about the inconsistencies in BET Awards’s voting procedures) fill the vasts of social media, but so did the awardees’ and guests’ fashions and – you guessed it – watches.
Here are the best watches we spotted at the 2024 BET Awards
Gunna and His Cartier Baignoire Allongée
Rapper Gunna, who was a nominee in the Viewers’ Choice category at the 2024 BET Awards, performed his song with Tyla and Skillibeng, Jump, at the ceremony. Together with a punk-inspired outfit, he wore an extravagant Cartier Baignoire Allongée with a bezel studded in diamonds and mounted upon a gray alligator leather strap.
Usher and His Piaget Polo Pavé Diamond Dial
The Lifetime Achievement Award recipient at this year’s BET Awards, Usher sported the forever elegant Piaget Polo watch with a diamond pavé on its dial. This timepiece also features a special bracelet that strays a bit further from the one on the maison’s highly-coveted Polo 79 model – the elongated links are replaced by chainmail-like links.
2 Chainz and His Rolex GMT-Master II Everose Gold with Diamonds, Rubies and Sapphires
Rapper 2 Chainz, who, alongside Lil Wayne was nominated for the Best Group Award, stunned the BET 2024 Awards’s red carpet in a leather trousers-and-vest combo covered in studs. The rapper styled his outfit with chainz (pun intended) and, of course, an extravagant Rolex GMT-Master II. His variant was cast in Everose gold, crowned with a red-and-blue bezel in sapphires and rubies, and, of course, diamonds covering its bezel.
NLE Choppa and His Rolex Sky-Dweller Everose Gold
Ever the hip-hop prodigy, 21-year-old rapper NLE Choppa attended the 2024 BET Awards wearing a timeless yet covetable Rolex Sky-Dweller in Everose gold. This watch, with its stunning brown sunburst dial, paired beautifully with NLE Choppa’s diamond-studded necklace and Balenciaga sunglasses.
Sexyy Red and Her Santos de Cartier with Aftermarket Diamonds
Best New Artist award nominee, rapper Sexyy Red has been killing it on the red carpets ever since her 2023 single Pound Town came out. To the BET 2024 Awards, the rapper wore a stunning skeletonized Santos de Cartier which she blinged out to the gods (even the numerals). And, as if showing her devotion to both fashion and horology, the artist sported a pair of heels with actual watches for straps. Dare we say your fave could never?
Wyclef Jean and His Hublot Classic Fusion King Gold Diamonds
Haitian rapper, singer, and composer Wyclef Jean, who won the Best Rap Album Grammy for The Score in 1997, also made an appearance at the 2024 BET Awards wearing a tasteful canary-yellow ensemble. His watch of choice was the Hublot Classic Fusion King in rose gold with diamonds punctuating its bezel.
Cam Newton and His Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar
Lest we forget, apart from musicians, producers, and actors, BET Awards also celebrates Black excellence in sport. And, to support his fellow athletes, American quarterback Cam Newton also attended the ceremony. The footballer wore the 41mm Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar in steel which looked spectacular with his double-breasted pinstripe suit.
Druski and His Rolex Datejust 41 Steel and Yellow Gold
American comedian and actor Druski also made an appearance at the 2024 BET Awards. Druski’s watch of choice for the ceremony was the classic Rolex Datejust on a Jubilee bracelet in stainless steel and yellow gold. The timepiece also featured a sunburst gray dial, which looked stunning in contrast with its emerald-green indices.
Killer Mike and His Rolex Datejust 36 Stainless Steel and Yellow Gold with Diamonds
At the 2024 BET Awards, Grammy-winning rapper and activist Killer Mike was honored with the prestigious Album of the Year Award for Michael. To the ceremony, the hip-hop legend wore a Rolex Datejust in stainless steel and yellow gold with a gorgeous gray sunburst dial and diamonds punctuating its indices and bezel.
Tyrese Gibson and His Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore with Aftermarket Diamonds
American actor Tyrese Gibson, known for his roles in the Fast and Furious franchise, was among the guests at the 2024 BET Awards. And, shining nearly as bright as his talent and effervescent personality, was the watch the actor wore to the ceremony. Shining almost as bright as the honourees at the 2024 BET Awards were all the many diamonds on the stars’ wrists, necks, and fingers. And American rapper Hunxho was, perhaps, the winner in that department with his Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Selfwinding, which he completely covered in diamonds – from bezel to bracelet.
Tamar Braxton and Her Patek Philippe Nautilus with Aftermarket Diamonds
R&B legend Tamar Braxton truly understood the assignment. To the 2024 BET Awards, the singer wore a stunning custom fuchsia gown designed by Michael Costello and adorned her wrist with a Patek Philippe Nautilus with – wait for it – a gorgeous diamond pavé that covered every inch.
Kesha Ward and Her Santos de Cartier with Aftermarket Diamonds
Rapper 2 Chainz’s wife, Kesha Ward, matched her husband’s level of opulence at the 2024 BET Awards. Ward wore a red gown with cutouts and a hood and, matching the dress’s shimmering sequins was her blinged-out Santos de Cartier.
