About
Kurono Tokyo

The Founder

A revered figure in the mysterious world of Japanese indie watchmaking, Hajime Asaoka started Kurono Tokyo as a means of bringing his thoughtful, heritage-informed aesthetic to an accessible price-point. A fine arts graduate in university, Asaoka taught himself the discipline of mechanical watchmaking beginning in 2005. Within four years he’d completed his first tourbillon.

Asaoka is a fully accredited member of the AHCI: Switzerland’s premiere body of independent watchmakers, including such names as Svend Andersen and Kari Voutilainen.
