New Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore 37MM to Celebrate Summer
The latest addition to the Royal Oak Offshore family is a feat of miniaturization and craftsmanship
Audemars Piguet has gifted us with another surprise, in this case, a Royal Oak Offshore Mini that continues to show how the Offshore design is striking in various sizes, as well as contrasting materials and colors. This piece exhibits plenty of Offshore hallmarks, from rubber-clad elements to the iconic Tapisserie pattern, truly showcasing one of the most important sports watches of our times.
The Origins
The birth of the Royal Oak Offshore in 1993 was a tribute to the resilience and perseverance of Swiss watchmaking during the tumultuous 1980s. This decade was marked by economic turmoil, with repeated oil and currency crises wreaking havoc on the industry. But as the clouds began to lift, there was a glimmer of hope for the future of luxury watchmaking. And at the forefront of this revival was Audemars Piguet. Under the leadership of Georges Golay, they launched their Royal Oak in 1972, focusing on traditional craftsmanship and limited edition pieces. Despite the challenges, Audemars Piguet continued to grow. By the mid-1980s had surpassed 11,000 watches in annual production, achieved a CHF 60 million turnover, and employed over 200 people – most of whom were still based in the Vallée de Joux region.
Case and Dial

Made with smaller wrists in mind, the 37mm time-only Royal Oak in 18k pink gold is an exercise in elevated subtlety. Its bezel, also made of gold, is coated with a sleek layer of gray rubber, adding a touch of ruggedness to the collection's overall sporty aesthetic. Complementing these tones, the guilloché Grande Tapisserie dial features a dazzling rhodium and ivory color scheme that is polished to perfection. The pink gold hour markers and trapezoidal hands with luminous detailing add a pop of color, while the inner bezel in gray echoes the rubber-coated bezel and mosaic rubber strap. As a bonus, the watch comes with two straps, a gray mosaic pattern, or an additional black mosaic version if you’re opting for something a little darker.
The Movement

The watch is powered by the Calibre 5900, a Vaucher-made movement that AP debuted in last year’s 37mm Royal Oak, which is marginally thinner than the Calibre 3120 movement that it had replaced. This 4Hz movement has what it takes to get the job done, and offers 60 hours of power reserve.
