The legend, the icon, and the undisputed tennis queen, Serena Williams, has 23 Grand Slam titles under her belt and is still the only woman to achieve a Career Golden Slam in both singles and doubles. Despite Williams retiring from professional sport after the 2022 U.S. Open, her inspirational legacy still holds strong and is amplified by her latest projects, WYN Beauty, and her numerous books.
It’s also no secret that Williams has a watch collection that could send even the most seasoned collector into a fit of envious rage. Seen adorning her wrists on courts and the various red carpets, were some of the rarest and most coveted Audemars Piguet watches. Here are some of our favorites:

AUDEMARS PIGUET Royal Oak Mini Frosted Gold & Pink Gold

One of the greatest tennis players of all time, Serena Williams has amassed an impressive collection of watches throughout her illustrious career. This awards-studded athlete is also known to have quite an affinity for Audemars Piguet – the Royal Oak variants in particular are often spotted on Williams’s wrist during her triumphant matches. Recently, the tennis superstar was spotted wearing a pair of brand-new Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Minis Frosted Gold. These quartz watches in pink and yellow gold push the boundaries of the maison’s expertise in miniaturization, and, as shown in the picture below, are best worn in tandem.

In May 2024, Serena Williams graced the pink carpet of the Metropolitan Museum in New York during the biggest fashion event of the year – the Met Gala. Her stunning golden gown inspired many headlines, but what captured our ever-watchful eyes was her Audemars Piguet Royal Oak. This variation of the openworked model features a flying tourbillon that fits beautifully into its skeletonized construction. What makes this wrist candy even sweeter is its construction – it's made from Sand Gold, the maison’s proprietary alloy with the most alluring sepia glow.

AUDEMARS PIGUET Code 11.59 By Audemars Piguet Tourbillon Openworked

At the launch of WYN Beauty by Serena Williams, the athlete wore a denim outfit inspired by tennis uniforms (duh!) consisting of a pleated mini skirt and a cropped jacket. The athlete paired this cute ensemble with an ever-so-elegant and ever-so-avant-garde Audemars Piguet Code 11.59. This particular iteration is a rarity (which isn’t all that surprising) not the least because of its elegant openworked construction which hosts an intricate tourbillon, but also because of its striking cobalt-blue hue.

Serena Williams is somebody who broke more glass ceilings than one can count. So, it’s only natural that a landmark watchmaker like Audemars Piguet recruited this conqueror of courts as its ambassador. And, during the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics, Williams once again pledged her allegiance to the maison when she wore the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Double Balance Wheel Openworked Steel 41MM in stainless steel with a captivating pink gold movement and bezel.

Earlier this year, Williams appeared at the Tribeca Film Festival to present her documentary series, In The Arena: Serena Williams, which recounted her legendary career and gave an intimate approach to her life. To the festival, Williams wore an adorable blush-pink ensemble that resembled a tennis uniform in its presentation. The star of the outfit, to us, however, was her Audemars Piguet Royal Oak in pink gold and strewn in diamonds in its dial, bezel and bracelet as if it was dipped into stardust.

AUDEMARS PIGUET Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph Stainless Steel with Diamonds

In 2023, nearly a year after retiring from professional sport, Serena Williams embarked on an entirely new journey (like launching her beauty brand and writing a children’s book). Yet, while juggling these new projects, she, evidently, still had the time to practice the sport that she loves, as shown in this picture, in which she’s seen wearing a periwinkle-hued Nike outfit. Much like during her days dominating tennis courts internationally, Williams paired her outfit with a sleek yet sporty Audemars Piguet; this time it was the Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph, executed in stainless steel and adorned with shimmering diamonds around its bezel.

AUDEMARS PIGUET Royal Oak “Jumbo” Extra Thin Yellow Gold 39MM

Among the many Audemars Piguet watches that Serena Williams owns the holy grail on the lists of many watch collectors – is the Royal Oak “Jumbo”. Since this is the greatest tennis player in history and a veritable style icon we are talking about, it’s not just any ol’ Jumbo, but the 50th-anniversary edition with an extra-thin profile and a mesmerizing golden gradient dial that captures the light thanks to the “pockets of brilliance” within the Grand Tapisserie texture. What makes this piece even more striking is the 18k yellow gold case that matches its unique dial.

Another Audemars Piguet “Jumbo” in Serena Williams’s watch collection is the Openworked variant in yellow gold. It’s fascinating to see how the maison’s approach to the art of openworking has evolved! It’s apparent that, with this model in particular, the maison also challenged itself by making the profile as thin as possible. The result is this completely skeletonized yet incredibly elegant and feminine work of horological marvel that’s as striking as it is cutting-edge.

In 2022, Williams went on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, where she spoke about the evolution of her career post-professional sport and promoted her children’s book, The Adventures of Qai Qai. The former athlete wore a sleek black dress and tasteful jewels, and her wrist was once again adorned by Audemars Piguet Royal Oak. This watch was on the simpler side, compared to the other pieces from Williams’s collection, and featured an ice-blue Grand Tapisserie dial which worked beautifully against its white gold case and bracelet.

In 2022, the illustrious career of Serena Williams in professional tennis came to a close. At her final match at the U.S. Open that year, the fierce athlete was defeated by Ajla Tomlijanovic from Australia. As she bid farewell to the sport, it was announced by Twitter Sports that she had become the most tweeted about female athlete on the platform, a testament to her impact and legacy. Dressed for the occasion, Serena adorned an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore watch in gleaming steel, boasting a precise quartz movement and adorned with glistening diamonds along its bezel. It was a moment both triumphant and poignant, as this queen took her final bow on the grand tennis stage.

AUDEMARS PIGUET Royal Oak Concept “Black Panther” Flying Tourbillon

It’s been years since Serena Williams established herself as a pop cultural fixture, and what watch could be more fitting for a figure of such stature than the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Concept “Black Panther”? Indeed, this watch has been spotted on the wrists of many celebrity collectors – and we truly get it. The star here is, of course, the miniature sculpture of the beloved superhero nestled in the center of its concave dial and the flying tourbillon at 6 o’clock.

AUDEMARS PIGUET Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Openworked Black Ceramic 41MM

This is another classic by Audemars Piguet that Serena Williams sported in 2021. The Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Openworked in Black Ceramic is not only the epitome of daring design, but also cutting-edge craftsmanship, and, therefore, it takes a special kind of person to pull off. Who else could so effortlessly carry a watch with four subdials, one of which happens to be a moonphase complication? It also showcases AP’s mastery of openworking, thus revealing its fascinatingly complex inner mechanisms.

AUDEMARS PIGUET Royal Oak Selfwinding White Gold with Brilliant-cut Diamonds 37MM

During the grand Met Gala of 2019, where Serena Williams co-hosted alongside Harry Styles and Lady Gaga, she donned a breathtaking yellow chiffon gown from Atelier Versace on the pink carpet. However, it was what lay beneath the intricate skirt and train that truly caught everyone's attention. The former tennis champion paid tribute to her athletic background with a surprise addition – a pair of neon green Nike x Off-White Air Force One sneakers with "Air" emblazoned across them. It was an unexpected choice, but it flawlessly complemented her off-the-shoulder gown in its matching hue. The color also brought to mind a tennis ball, adding to the playful camp theme of the evening. Continuing with the extravagance of her ensemble, Williams adorned her wrists with a stunning Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Selfwinding watch crafted in white gold and encrusted with brilliant-cut diamonds.

AUDEMARS PIGUET “Diamond Outrage” Haute Joaillerie Piece Unique White Gold with Diamonds

Williams made a splash at the coveted Met Gala in 2017, adorned in a stunning custom Atelier Versace gown that accentuated her growing baby bump. Styled by Kesha McLeod, the usually shapeless maternity wardrobe was transformed into a figure-hugging masterpiece that glistened under the red carpet lights. With one hand placed gently on her stomach, and the other free to hold her dazzling XIV Karats emerald drop earrings, Williams proved she is not only a queen on the tennis court but also on the fashion scene. To top off this extraordinary look, she chose to wear an exquisite Audemars Piguet "Diamond Outrage" Haute Joaillerie Piece Unique in white gold, elevating her ensemble to a grand slam level of glamour.

AUDEMARS PIGUET Royal Oak Selfwinding Stainless Steel Diamond Bezel 37MM

In 2017, Serena Williams shared a selfie on her Instagram posing with another coveted watch. It was the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Selfwinding in stainless steel. The iconic octagonal bezel of this watch is adorned with shimmering diamonds, while its black Grand Tapisserie dial adds to its shine thanks to its unique “pockets of brilliance”.

AUDEMARS PIGUET Millenary Pink Gold with Diamonds Skeletonized with Mother-of-Pearl Dial

In January 2017, Serena Williams, after suffering a loss in New Zealand to American tennis player Madison Brengle, took the Australian Open by storm. Winning for the seventh time in her career, earning the straight-set victory of 6-4, 6-4 by beating her sister Venus. Accompanying her during this triumphant match was an Audemars Piguet Millenary in pink gold. This one came with an oblong diamond-studded case and a skeletonized construction that revealed its inner workings.
