All The Watches in The Bear Season 3

In addition to award-winning cast and delicious drama, The Bear featured some tasteful watches too

The hit FX TV show The Bear might be about the cutthroat world of fine dining, but it also featured many interesting watches. This detail is unsurprising, given how many watch brands choose chefs as their ambassadors. Jaeger-LeCoultre has a French pastry chef Nina Métayer, Zenith has Michelin-starred Matthieu Dupuis-Baumal, and Hublot – the legendary Anne-Sophie Pic.

The Bear, which scored a whopping 23 Emmy nominations this year in the comedy category (despite being closer to a prestige drama thanks to its high stakes and taxing plot), tells the story of an ambitious chef Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto who attempts to revive the restaurant owned by his late brother while grappling with grief and difficult family relationships.

The showrunner Joanna Calo masterfully garnished the poignant drama of the Chicago-set series with a delightful garnish of timepieces. Let’s take a closer look.

Chef Thomas Keller and His Rolex Cosmograph Daytona White Gold

The French Laundry’s Thomas Keller, one of the many actual chefs to guest star in The Bear, was one of Carmy’s kinder mentors in The Bear. In the show, Keller was wearing a stunning Rolex Cosmograph Daytona in white gold with a steel dial and the signature black Cerachrom bezel ring.

Luca (Will Poulter) and His Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra

Many might associate Omega with James Bond films, space, or, most recently, the 2024 Paris Olympics. The brand also associates itself with gastronomy, by electing Gault & Millau Chef of the Year Thierry Max as its ambassador. In The Bear, Carmy’s former coworker Luca (brought to the screen by the incomparable Will Poulter) was spotted wearing an Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra – a perfectly elegant watch for the perfectly dapper chef.

Chef Daniel Boulud and His Rolex GMT-Master II “Rootbeer”

French chef Daniel Boulud, with restaurants in New York, Palm Beach, Miami, Toronto, Montreal, Singapore, and Dubai bearing his name, also made an appearance in The Bear. Boulud wore a Rolex GMT-Master II with a brown-and-black bezel, affectionately known as “Rootbeer” among the collectors. Was this a conscious choice made by the costume department to utilize a food metaphor or just a happy coincidence? We might never know, but what matters is that the timepiece looked both proper and tasteful in the context of a high-end kitchen.

Chef Terry (Olivia Colman) and Her Rolex Submariner Date Steel

Oscar, Emmy, BAFTA, and Golden Globe-winning powerhouse Olivia Colman took The Bear to an entirely new level with her performance as chef Terry, who served as a mentor to Carmy’s cousin Richie and taught him what it takes to run a fine-dining establishment. During the tear-jerking speech in the third season at the closure of her restaurant, she wore a Rolex Submariner Date in steel with a sleek black bezel and dial.

Chef David (Joel McHale) and His Breitling Super Chronomat B01 44

Award-winning actor Joel McHale, who played chef David – another one of Carmy’s mentors and, by extension, a source of much of his distress, trauma, and anxieties. In the show, the authoritarian chef wore a Breitling Super Chronomat B01 44. This mechanical chronograph was created for the “hotshots of aerobatic squadrons” and is punctuated with red gold accents on its bracelet, bezel, dial, and hands.

Uncle Jimmy (Oliver Platt) and His Breitling Premier B26 Datora 42

Tony Award-winning actor Oliver Platt can effortlessly do drama and comedy, which is exactly what made his character Uncle Jimmy so relatable and sympathetic. In The Bear, the actor wore a Breitling Premier B28 Datora 42 – a landmark watch with three Premier complications: Chronograph, Duograph, and Datora. This watch was once described as an “unmistakable stamp of impeccable taste” by Willy Breitling himself.

Marcus (L-Boy) and His Tissot Gentleman Powermatic 80

American actor L-Boy (Lionel Boyce), who plays an ambitious and kind-hearted pastry chef Marcus in The Bear also wore a rather interesting watch in the show. No, it wasn’t a Rolex, Breitling, JLG, or Hublot, but a simple Tissot. The model, Gentleman Powermatic 80, is made from stainless steel and features a stunning emerald-green dial.
