The Founder

Like its rivals who collectively make up the “Big 3” of Swiss watchmaking, Vacheron Constantin began life as a modest enterprise founded by the titular Jean-Marc Vacheron. In 1819, François Constantin joined Jacques-Bathélémi, the former’s grandson, in the business - thereby renaming it Vacheron & Constantin.

 

Through links with individuals like Georges-Auguste Leschot (inventor of the pantograph), the brand has come to embody the romance and intellectualism of high watchmaking. Though, collections such as the Fiftysix and Overseas continue to win new devotees in the 21st century.
