The IWC Portugieser Automatic (ref. IW501705) refines a design legacy that began in the 1930s, now expressed in a slimmer form and versatile new proportions. Released in 2024 as a follow-up to the long-running IW5007 series, this iteration combines IWC’s signature clean dial layout with a restrained beige tone and updated movement architecture.

Housed in a 42.4mm stainless steel case with a thickness of 12.9mm, the IW5017-05 retains the elegant profile of the Portugieser line while improving wearability. The warm beige dial is minimally interrupted by applied Arabic numerals and a sunken small seconds at 9 o’clock paired with a power reserve indicator at 3. Inside, IWC’s in-house calibre 52011 provides a seven-day power reserve thanks to a dual-barrel Pellaton winding system – a technical evolution of the earlier 52010 first seen in select Big Pilot references.

With a transparent caseback showcasing the movement’s refined finishing, the IW501705 balances mechanical depth with classic aesthetics. Its revised dimensions and subtle dial colour signal a modern shift within IWC’s most historically rooted line.
