A Look at The Vacheron Constantin Watch Index

These Vacheron Constantin models are appreciating despite the overall VC25 decline

VC25 on The Wristcheck Watch Index tracks the real-time performance of the 25 most traded Vacheron Constantin models. Over the past three months, this index, much like the Rolex Index and Audemars Piguet Index, has witnessed a decline, which, in many ways, reflects the state of the secondary watch market.

Despite these uncertainties, some Vacheron Constantin models remain unfazed – gaining on the secondary market and, in some cases, crossing the threshold of their retail price. Here are some of the models that caught our attention:

FiftySix Complete Calendar Steel Blue Dial

This variant of the Vacheron Constantin FiftySix is an heir to the model first introduced in 1956 and is now one of the most traded models on the secondary market. The model with the moon phase complication at six o'clock and a gold oscillating weight, as seen through its caseback has been experiencing quite an uptick in its value over the past three months. Starting at around US$ 22k in early July, it peaked at almost US$ 25k in late September. Despite gaining about 8.3 percent in its value over the past 90 days, the model is trading at nearly 13 percent below its retail value.

Overseas Date Steel Blue Dial

Overseas is, perhaps, the most popular collection in Vacheron Constantin’s offering. Launched in 2016, this line has become synonymous with high-end modern watchmaking. Over the past three months, the Overseas Date in stainless steel with a blue dial has dramatically appreciated, going from US$ 28,948 in early July to somewhere around US$ & 32,000. As of October 2nd, the Overseas Date Steel Blue Dial is trading at 25.8 percent above its retail price.

FiftySix Steel Silver Dial

The stainless steel variant of the Vacheron Constantin FiftySix has been steadily appreciating over the past three months. On July 2nd, this model was valued at US$ 11,124 and only grew over the next 90 days. As of October 2nd, the stainless steel FiftySix was being traded at about US$ 12,135 – about seven percent higher than what you’d pay for it in the boutiques.

FiftySix Complete Calendar Rose Gold Silver Dial

While the Vacheron Constantin FiftySix Complete Calendar in rose gold with a silver dial has suffered a significant drop in its value on the secondary market in early July (it went down from US$ 34,218 to US$ 31,352), the model has been recovering. Since, this watch appreciated about 6.3 percent in its value and, as of October 2nd, the Complete Calendar variant of the FiftySix, was valued at US$ 33,024, which is almost 30 percent below its retail price.

Overseas Chronograph Steel Blue Dial

Many Vacheron Constantin Overseas watches are constantly valued over retail on the secondary watch market, including this Chronograph in stainless steel with a blue dial. In early July, this one was traded slightly below its retail price of US$ 36,450, before swiftly recovering by July 16th. As of October 2nd, the model was valued at US$ 38,203, which is almost 3% over its retail value.
