Richard Mille built roughly 5,300 watches in 2023, and says it is the only company in the Swiss industry's top 30 making fewer than 6,000 pieces a year. Every one of them sells through the brand's own boutiques, mostly to waitlists, and there is no public price list. The honest one lives on the pre-owned market, where discontinued and limited references are genuinely for sale. The median asking price across Wristcheck's Richard Mille listings in July 2026 is US$ 294,900. The cheapest way in is a round watch most people don't recognize as a Richard Mille, and the list runs from there up to a 30-piece tourbillon.

1. Richard Mille RM 033 Extra Flat
The Richard Mille that doesn't look like one, and costs less because of it
The RM 033 is the least expensive route into Richard Mille ownership largely because it skips the tonneau silhouette the market pays for, in a 45.7 mm round case that stands 6.3 mm off the wrist. Introduced in 2011 as what the brand calls the collection's first ultra-thin round watch, a titanium Richard Mille RM 033 Extra Flat reads as a skeletonized dress watch until you clock the spline screws.
Most automatics stack a full-diameter winding weight on top of the movement; the RM 033's calibre RMXP1 sinks a small platinum weight into the same plane as the gear train, off to one side. Platinum is dense enough that a small weight winds as well as a big one, and the whole movement stays at 2.6 mm. For scale inside Richard Mille's own round line, the RM 33-01 is 9.2 mm thick and the RM 33-03 is 9.7 mm.
Monochrome-Watches found the flat 45.7 mm disc less comfortable than the brand's curved tonneau cases. Water resistance is 30 m (3 bar), splash-only. The caseback curves and the lugs are fully integrated, so this one comes down to wrist size rather than the number.

Nine years the bestseller, still the easiest RM to buy and sell
Richard Mille's bestseller for nine years, the RM 011 is still the brand's most liquid watch. SJX described it as the long-running top seller when the brand retired it in 2016, and the aftermarket agrees: RM 011 variants account for 26 of the 155 Richard Mille listings on Wristcheck in July 2026, more than any other reference.
Conceived for Felipe Massa, the brand's first ambassador, a titanium Richard Mille RM 011 Felipe Massa packs a flyback chronograph, an annual calendar with oversize date, and a 60-minute countdown timer into a tonneau case 42.7 mm wide and a full 50 mm top to bottom.
The calibre RMAC1 runs a Vaucher base with a Dubois-Depraz chronograph module, and its variable-geometry rotor offers six inertia settings that tune how hard it winds, so a desk-bound owner and a kart-racing one get the same watch wound correctly.
Nothing hides the movement behind that skeleton dial. The grade 5 titanium plates and bridges are hand-polished, wet sandblasted and PVD treated, because here the structure is the decoration. Even the crown is styled as a smooth tire around a spoked wheel rim.
Over nine years it appeared in titanium, both golds, ceramic, Carbon TPT and Quartz TPT, plus editions like the 50-piece 2008 Singapore GP watch marking Formula One's first night race. The Red TPT Quartz version replaced carbon with fused quartz, purified crystals drawn under an oxy-hydrogen flame into continuous fiber, and that prepreg won the JEC World 2016 Innovation Award in the Luxury category. The last RM 011 built was a blue ceramic, the Last Edition.

4. Richard Mille RM 16-02 Extra Flat
Rectangular, revived in 2025, and priced upside down
The RM 16-02 is Richard Mille's 2025 revival of its first rectangular watch, the RM 016 of 2007. It arrived in January 2025 as a time-only automatic on the new calibre CRMA9 – the 15th movement the brand has built itself, by Revolution's count – in a 36 mm × 45.64 mm microblasted titanium case 9.5 mm thin. Revolution counted 67 chamfered openings milled into the CRMA9's titanium baseplate, each one roughly two hours of work on its own before any other finishing begins.
There's no casing ring. The movement bolts straight onto rubber chassis mounts, the same idea as an engine mount in a car, so a knock to the titanium Richard Mille RM 16-02 Extra Flat case gets absorbed before it reaches the 4.12 mm skeletonized calibre.
Launch pricing inverted the usual hierarchy: the Terracotta Quartz TPT composite version cost roughly 16% more than the metal one. It sits in the current collection with no numbered edition, so supply is being replenished rather than fixed, which is the argument against paying a scarcity premium for one.

What happens when a mainspring is already full and the rotor keeps spinning? In almost every automatic watch the spring simply slips inside its barrel, and Richard Mille's stated objection is that years of slipping shed debris into the oil. Its answer here is a patented declutchable rotor: at 50 hours of reserve the rotor physically disconnects, and when the reserve falls to 40 hours it re-engages. An indicator at 12 o'clock shows which state you're in, live.

On the case alone the brand publishes 86 swaging operations, 49 of them striking, and 45 minutes just to engrave its own name inside the caseback curve.

8. Richard Mille RM 65-01 Split-Seconds Chronograph
Six hundred components, and every one of them is doing something
Nobody needs a split-seconds chronograph. It's the hardest thing Richard Mille makes in series, and the brand calls it the most complex watch ever to leave its workshops. The RM 65-01 of 2020 is Richard Mille's first self-winding rattrapante, some five years in development with Vaucher on the VMF 6710 base, roughly 600 components deep.
The calibre RMAC4 beats at 5 Hz. A 4 Hz movement slices a second into eighths; 36,000 vibrations per hour slices it into tenths, exactly the resolution a second timing hand needs. The rattrapante runs off a six-column wheel and a vertical clutch, and that 5 Hz costs 7,200 extra vibrations every hour on the wrist. Function selection happens through a pusher in the crown, cycling winding, date and hand-setting with a little W-D-H display at 4 o'clock.
A rapid-winder sits at 8 o'clock, and 125 pushes on it take the mainspring from empty to full. It is a permanent-collection model rather than a numbered edition, and the titanium Richard Mille RM 65-01 is currently the cheaper of the two executions we hold, the other being Black Carbon TPT.

Paris, June 2010: Rafael Nadal wins the French Open with a 20-gram tourbillon on his right wrist, and the idea of a watch you can play Grand Slam tennis in stops being theoretical. Richard Mille says it built the Richard Mille RM 35-02 Rafael Nadal in 2016 because customers kept asking for a self-winding Nadal calibre.
The RMAL1 delivers it with a double barrel and the variable-geometry rotor, though Hodinkee flagged one snag: on this reference, changing the rotor setting means a trip to a service center. Cases come in black Carbon TPT or the louder Quartz TPT Red, silica layers 45 microns thin that Richard Mille rates to 5,000 g accelerations, with color carried in the resin rather than painted on.
Nadal's own RM027 was stolen in Paris after the 2012 French Open final and recovered from railway tracks a day later, which is worth remembering when you insure one. The round RM 033 Extra Flat is usually Richard Mille's cheapest reference pre-owned. Boutiques run multiyear waitlists and publish no price list, so that entry point exists only on the secondary market. Among watches still in production, the rectangular RM 16-02 sits lowest on this list.
Richard Mille's shock ratings are published, and they were earned the hard way. Rafael Nadal broke at least six prototypes in 2010 testing: hands, crowns and crystals failed, the movement never did (Quill & Pad). Nadal's serve alone lands at 800–1,000 g.
