The 18 karat gold bridges, meticulously crafted with utmost precision, are also adorned with the same black-polished finish. The Case

Crafted using 18 karat white gold, the 40mm prototype case showcases impeccable soldering using the Daniels Method. This intricate technique involves shaping a flat piece of gold into a flawless circular ring, skillfully soldered together for a consistent and exquisite finish. The bezel, caseback, and straight lugs are also masterfully crafted using this method, resulting in a seamlessly elegant design. The open-worked dial, framed by sapphire crystals both front and back, allows for a captivating view of the intricate inner workings, whilst the hand-turned and milled crown, manufactured with an index plate, offers an unparalleled tactile experience while winding and setting the watch. Working in perfect harmony, the set lever and set jumper ensure a fulfilling user experience.

The Movement

The movement of this timepiece showcases a freesprung Quadrajust balance, precisely regulated through the utilization of four 'D-shaped' inertia weights integrated into the Series 2 balance wheel. This ingenious design ensures exceptional accuracy, allowing the watch to maintain precise timekeeping at a frequency of 18,000 vibrations per hour. What truly sets this timepiece apart is its visionary approach to longevity. Roger W. Smith perceives the escapement not merely as a timekeeping device, but as a mechanism that enhances its overall durability. Inspired by Daniels' groundbreaking designs, the implementation of a smaller diameter flat hairspring minimizes amplitude differences between horizontal and vertical positions, resulting in extended service intervals and reduced lubrication requirements.
