HYT

Founded by Patrick Berdoz, Emmanuel Savioz, Vincent Perriard, and Lucien Vouillamoz, HYT’s central philosophy is to combine fine mechanical watchmaking with the science of fluid dynamics - resulting in watches that aren’t quite like anything else on the market.

The fluid module (centering on two bellows that expand and contract with a purpose-made solution of dye to tell time) was first conceptualized by Vouillamoz in 2002. Yet it would take another 10 years and the assistance of movement specialist Jean-François Mojon to bring this experimental concept to fruition.

Since HYT’s revitalization in 2022, the company has been led by Davide Cerrato - the industry veteran who previously spearheaded Montblanc’s watches division and the Tudor Heritage Black Bay launch.

Initially established in 2012 by a quartet of industry veterans, HYT’s primary claim to fame is its endemic usage of liquid time displays - a concept that the brand first unveiled (to massive critical acclaim) with its tubular H1.

Over the following decade, the brand worked to refine and expand upon this concept of telling “hydromechanical” time, with pieces like the skeletonized H2 - co-developed by Giulio Papi of APRP fame - and lume-covered Moon Runner fitted with the fluidic retrograde display.

Following a brief disruption in 2021 (due to the economic fallout of the Covid-19 pandemic), the brand was revived by Kairos Technology, a Swiss manufacturer of precision instruments for the energy industry, in 2022.
