In 1975, Girard-Perregaux presented the world with an innovative and sporty timepiece named the Laureato. It incorporated an octagonal polished bezel and an integrated bracelet ultimately creating a watch that was versatile and could be worn in many functions and fashions. Laureato's birth was quite significant, as it inspired many other sports watches to come. It was original and unique and became one of Girard Perregaux's most iconic and popular models. The watch had an elegance to it which was perfect for formal events and it was also lightweight and thin, which was ideal to wear during sporting activities as well. In 2017, Girard-Perregaux celebrated its 225th anniversary, and to commemorate the occasion, several iterations of the Laureato were born. It had a true and complete collection that was available in four sizes: 44mm, 42mm, 38mm, and 34mm. The watch we have present here is the 42mm version of the Laureato with a stainless steel case and a blue dial. It houses a calibre GP01800-0008, which was also designed completely in-house for the brands 225th anniversary and comprises of 191 components, with 54hrs of power reserve, and 100m of water resistance. Girard-Perreguax has always been synonymous with quality, and even decades following the initial release of the Laureato, the standard has never wavered.
