The Bulgari Aluminium and Aluminium Chronograph are reinterpretations of a watch first introduced by Bulgari in 1998 which combined an aluminium cases, rubber straps, and quartz movements to produce a unique luxury timepiece. Although it may seem common today, selling a non-precious-metal watch on a rubber strap as a luxury watch was quite groundbreaking in the late 1990s.
The modern re-interpretation of the watch, launched in 2020, builds on its older sibling but with a more durable aluminium alloy more resistant to wear. The present watch we have here is the chronograph version with a “panda” style dial. It features a 40mm aluminium case, a rubber bezel, titanium caseback, and rubber bracelet.
The subtle off-white dial balances the apparent BVLGARI logo around the bezel with a red hint added by the second hand. The watch houses the caliber B130, Bulgari's version of the ETA 2894-2, meaning it's automatic and has a 42-hour power reserve.
This example we offer could be a fun addition to someone’s already widely ranged collection, or be a nice entry point into the Bulgari world.
