A. Lange & Söhne was founded in the small town of Glashütte by Ferdinand Adolph Lange, who was determined to create watches that combined precision, functionality, and aesthetic beauty. Released in 2016, the Grand Lange 1 Moonphase "Lumen" ref 139.035, is an upgraded variant of the Grand Lange 1 Lumen, which was heavily inspired by the Lange 1. This new model further enhances the previous model - which was already a horological masterpiece and upgrades it even more whilst still retaining much of the heritage and classic aesthetic that established the watch. The case of the watch is measured at 41mm crafted with platinum and accompanied by a black alligator strap, and powered with an upgraded calibre L.095.4, capable of up to 20m of water resistance and 72 hours of power reserve. Along the same lines as the Lange 1 and Grand Lange 1 Lumen, the design of the dial and its features are off-centered, with the minutes and hours occupying much of the dial situated at the 9 o'clock position, the seconds dial located at 4:30 o'clock, date at 1:30, and lastly a power reserve indicator from 2 - 4 o'clock. Limited to only 200 units, the watch is a horological innovation that is highly sought-after.
