Introducing The Daniel Roth Extra Plat Rose Gold
Following the Souscription model in yellow gold released earlier this year, the standard production of the Daniel Roth Extra Plat is now available to the public, and you can get your hands on one through Wristcheck.
The Daniel Roth Extra Plat marks the second act in the revived brand’s comeback under the wing of La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton. The first model, as you may remember, was the Daniel Roth Tourbillon, which came in a 20-piece limited “Souscription” iteration in yellow gold, followed by a standard production version in rose gold.
Following the same launch format, the limited “Souscription” edition of the Daniel Roth Extra Plat debuted during LVMH Watch Week earlier this year — and we now see the standard production model in rose gold being unveiled to the public.
For 2025, Daniel Roth has stayed remarkably faithful to the original Extra Plat designs from the early ’90s. As a recap, Daniel Roth released the Extra Plat Automatic ref. 2107/C107 in 1990, followed by the Extra Plat Manual ref. 2167/C167 in 1991. This new rose gold reissue brings back the signature double-ellipse case with its centered gadroon – a hallmark of the collection’s balanced silhouette – while subtly refining the lugs for a more ergonomic fit.
The dial stays close to the DNA of the originals, featuring a two-tone layout with a solid white gold base and a 5N rose gold chapter ring. Like the Tourbillon released before it, this version adds a handcrafted “guillochage en ligne” – or pinstripe guilloché – giving the piece added depth and texture. The contrast between the grey and rose tones gives it much of its charm, particularly for collectors with a soft spot for vintage.
Powered by the newly developed DR002 movement – conceived from scratch at La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton, overseen by master watchmakers Michel Navas and Enrico Barbasini – the DR002 will serve as a base caliber for upcoming complications across the revived Daniel Roth lineup.
So far, the revival has been methodical: first the Tourbillon, now the Extra Plat. Naturally, collectors are already speculating what’s next — a re-release of a Chronograph model, another with a retrograde, maybe even a perpetual calendar model. All signs point to a slow, considered rollout that brings back the references that made the brand a cult name in the first place.
