Moser's love for Vantablack® takes a fresh turn this year with the collaborative Endeavour Small Seconds Total Eclipse x The Armoury
Best known for its cool and contemporary dial executions, Moser’s affinity with Vantablack® has taken a fresh turn this year with the sleek Endeavour Small Seconds Total Eclipse made in collaboration with The Armoury. The darkest material known to man, Vantablack® absorbs 99.965 per cent of light – and 100 per cent attracts your attention.
Ardent fans of the brand would know that this is not the first time the manufacture has adopted the dark and intriguing Vantablack® for one of its watches. In 2019, Moser took to Instagram and posted a picture of a black dial housed inside a Venturer. The announcement paved the way for a new chapter in Moser's design philosophy with the Venturer Concept Vantablack® in a 39mm steel case. It was the first watch to feature a Vantablack® dial paired with Vantablack® hour and minute hands. Limited to 20 pieces, the neo-vintage timepiece, with neither a logo nor the indexes, was further uplifted with a red gold case. This zany creation was followed by the release of the Venturer Concept Vantablack® Diamonds, the Endeavour Perpetual Moon Concept Only Watch with a Vantablack® dial and the Endeavour Tourbillon Concept Vantablack®.

Last year, Moser presented the Streamliner Cylindrical Tourbillon Only Watch and the Swiss Alp Watch Final Upgrade, both featuring Vantablack® dials. The brand’s first watch for 2022, the Endeavour Small Seconds Total Eclipse x The Armoury is available in two variations, limited to 28 pieces each. Powering the watch is the hand-wound HMC 327 Manufacture calibre, which delivers a power reserve of around three days.
A Celestial Inspiration
Inspired by the solar eclipse, the Endeavour Small Seconds Total Eclipse presents one of nature's greatest spectacles on an understated yet elegant dial, which evokes the silhouette of the moon with the deep and dark Vantablack®, while the polished inner flange in steel or red gold represents the halo of the solar corona, visible to the naked eye only when there is a total solar eclipse.

A menswear boutique, The Armoury takes pride in its specialised and classic styling for the modern man, which was an obvious catalyst for this partnership with Moser that led to the making of the latest Endeavour Small Seconds. The understated design DNA of the Endeavour Small Seconds Total Eclipse x The Armoury testifies to the minimalist codes of the Endeavour collection.
Attention to Detail
Vantablack® is, hands down, the protagonist of this story, but the show must not end without a big round of applause for the supporting crew and cast – the many details that make this hero a show-stealer. The artisans at Moser drilled through the Vantablack® to create the marker dots of the indexes, leading to the revelation of the dial plate – a first for H. Moser & Cie.

The sleek Breguet hands coupled with the small second hand, which is embellished with a dot-style marker, adds to the watch’s classic charm. The 38mm steel case has been paired with a black calf leather strap, designed and created by The Armoury. The strap offers two different textures of leather, adding to the overall elegance of this watch.
Endeavour: A Gift That Never Stops Giving
Moser's Endeavour collection is a contemporary take on round watch cases. The stark simplicity of the collection and fundamental design have a huge fanbase that seeks joy in minimalism and admires the perennial beauty of things. This simple collection has offered the community some distinctive complications too, be it a perpetual calendar or a minute repeater.
The collection remains unpretentious, yet possesses the confidence to pull off quirky pieces like the Endeavour Centre Seconds Concept x seconde/seconde/ that was the talk of the town for its pixelated eraser for the hour hand on a blue sunray fumé dial. The Endeavour collection offers clean, pure designs that accentuate the beauty of its sculpted cases as exemplified by the Small Seconds Total Eclipse x The Armoury.
