Watch collaborations are all the rage these days. Remember how we all raved when H. Moser & Cie. unveiled their passionate collaboration with Studio Underd0g? Or when Richard Mille partnered with Ferrari on an ultra-thin timepiece? There are many more examples of such exciting projects, from quirky to outright bizarre (Rolex x Domino’s, we’re looking in your direction), and here, we’ve curated a selection of some of the buzziest horological collaborations of the past decade that will certainly make for a fantastic gift for your loved one (or yourself) this holiday season.

Wristcheck’s first-ever collaboration with a watchmaker, the limited-edition Perception 传承 is a captivating horological feat. This watch's titanium case encases a unique mint-green sapphire crystal dial. The guilloche pattern here is nothing short of striking; this is specifically the écailles de poisson variety of the technique, which resembles fish scales due to its interplay of curved and straight lines. Another impressive feature of this limited-edition piece is its movement. The extra-thin self-winding Calibre SL1588 features a 41-hour power reserve and water resistance of 100 meters.

This next collaboration is the whimsical yet, undoubtedly, horologically potent Marine Bell & Ross x Alain Silberstein Ceramic Trilogy “22”. While our ardent readers are surely familiar with Bell & Ross’s game, those new to the watch world might not have heard of the name Alain Silberstein – an architect and designer, who pivoted into watches in the 1990s. This limited-edition watch features playful, enlarged avant-garde hours, seconds, and minutes hands in bright colors that serve as a refreshing break from austerity typical of contemporary models. Powered by the self-winding Calibre BR 302, this dive watch offers a reliable 38-hour power reserve and a water resistance of 300 meters.

Perhaps, the buzziest artistic collaboration of the past year is the one between MB&F and French artist and fashion designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac. The M.A.D.1 Time to Love, limited to only 999 pieces, features the distinctive 42mm tripartite case and an inverted movement. The blades of its rotor are colored yellow, red, and blue and adorned with sketch lines pointed in the direction of their movement. And, what emphasizes de Castelbajac’s playful sensibilities even more is the colorful “Time to Love” embroidery upon its leather strap.

And now, a true rarity. Back in 2014, Hublot collaborated with Ferrari on an unprecedented watch. Pushing the boundaries of horology, the limited-edition piece features two barrels that indicate hours and minutes and a power reserve indicator. Developed in close partnership with the Ferrari team, this horological masterpiece features a unique case that mimics the shape of the LaFerrari MP-05, which is made from black PVD titanium and topped by carbon and titanium inserts at the center. The movement has an original display, featuring on the front vertical face the small seconds indicated by an aluminum cylinder fastened onto the suspended Tourbillon cage. And yes, this one is a piece unique – the only one of its kind studded with baguette-cut diamonds.

A union between a contemporary watch and a 19th-century chronograph, Excellence Le Régulateur from Louis Erard and Massena LAB is the best of both worlds. Two elegant subdials in matte silver at 12 and 6 o’clock are “floating” in the sea of hammered gold and are trodden on by svelte cobalt blue hands, creating an alluring and harmonious composition. This watch is equipped with a Sellita SW266-1 automatic caliber that boasts a power reserve of 38 hours and is mounted upon a grained calfskin leather strap with tone-on-tone stitching.

Another titillating menagerie between a horological and automotive giant, the Jacob & Co. Bugatti Chiron Tourbillon isn’t for the faint of heart. Embodying the unapologetic maximalism of both brands, the watch features a case inspired by Chiron’s muscular bodywork and its hauntingly striking headlights. The sapphire crystal reveals the roaring engine – the Caliber JCAM37 – features a W-shaped, 16-cylinder block, four coiled springs that act as shock absorbers, and a 30-degree-inclined flying tourbillon. By sculpting this movement, the artisans at Jacob & Co. revisited the ancient traditions of automata. At the press of a button, its 16 pistons fire up and down in their sapphire cylinders, driven by a single-block crankshaft. During the 15-second animation sequence, the Bugatti Chiron Tourbillon comes to life.

A notable collaboration to mention is the L'Epée x Wristcheck Grenade 1839. Limited to only 88 pieces, this technical wonder embodies the exceptional horological craftsmanship of L'Epée. A symbol of time's fleeting nature, this desk clock features a pin – reminiscent of the MKII grenade – that serves as both a key and a tool for setting the time and winding the eight-day movement. The hours and minutes are displayed on two rotating aluminum disks directly above the movement while the key pin – which is arguably the most captivating aspect of this piece – is tucked away in the fuse-shaped structure on top. It can then be placed onto a post on the center of the top plate to adjust the time.
