From Tiffany Blue Pateks to rare Rolex Rainbow Daytonas, we explore the most enviable watch collections owned by our fave power couples

Being a celebrity couple definitely has its drawbacks - constantly being hounded by the press, a general lack of privacy, and an amplified level of scrutiny from keyboard warriors across the internet. The upside is an unprecedented level of access to luxury goods, including watches. Outside of owning these watches outright, what’s more fun than looking at the watches worn by a Hollywood star? The answer: two Hollywood stars!

Starting off strong with the Carters, the reigning king and queen of the music industry. Unbeknownst to many, Jay-Z was not only a musical pioneer in the hip-hop genre - but also a strong proponent for brands such as Audemars Piguet when they were not as well known in mainstream media. Before famously naming a song after designer Tom Ford on his Magna Carta Holy Grail album, the Brooklyn native dedicated some lyrical real estate to two Swiss giants - Rolex and the aforementioned Audemars Piguet. In the viral song “N***** In Paris” from the collaborative Watch The Throne album with Kanye West, the rapper throws out the line: “Ball so hard, got a broke clock/Rollies that don’t tick-tock/Audemars that’s losing time, hidden behind all these big rocks”. Prior to all of this, Audemars Piguet recognized Jay’s contribution to the culture in 2006 and launched a collection of 100 limited edition Royal Oak Offshore “Jay-Z” 10th Anniversary models in a variety of metals. Most curiously, the watch was packaged with an iPod that had his entire discography (up until that point) embedded within it.

Beyoncé, on the other hand, is a relatively elusive enigma when it comes to her timepieces. Although the couple’s combined net wealth would likely dwarf several small nations, Ms. Knowles rarely displays any of her impressive wrist candy. Given her husband’s proclivity for the Audemars Piguet brand, it comes as no surprise to know that she has at least one Royal Oak Offshore in her collection - but what truly stunned fans was a photo posted to her social media where she could be seen donning a yellow gold Apple Watch with a custom all-gold link bracelet on a private jet en route to Coachella. Needless to say, this was not a variant that was available to the public at large or avid Apple fanatics. Generosity is also in Queen Bey’s nature it seems, as she reportedly gifted her husband a Hublot Big Bang encrusted in a ludicrous 1,282 diamonds for his 43rd birthday - giving new meaning to the term “buss down”.

Hov has also been sighted with an impressive Patek Philippe Grandmaster Chime Ref. 6300G in 2019 at Diddy’s 50th birthday party (sensing a theme with watches and birthdays). These are not only incredibly rare, but also some of the most complicated watches produced by Patek. When launched, the retail price was US$2.2 million - with secondary market valuations soaring even higher. Naturally, Jay-Z is also one of the first owners of the infamous Tiffany-blue Patek 5711 and often sports a Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar with a black ceramic case for more subdued occasions.

On screen chemistry between Tom Holland and Zendaya in the Spider-Man movies felt palpable and believable - thanks to the genuine off-screen romance between the Peter Parker and MJ actors. Many couples begin courtship by bonding over mutual interests and hobbies, and in our little fantasy this would have included a shared appreciation for fine timepieces given that they both clearly exhibit a certain taste level for watches.

Tom may have recently announced that he would be taking a year-long break from acting but by the looks of it, it doesn’t appear like he is taking a hiatus from acquiring desirable watches. At the recent Monaco Grand Prix, Holland wore the fantastic new Carrera Chronograph ‘Glassbox’ from the official watch brand partner of the event, Tag Heuer. This particular model celebrates the 60th anniversary of the line, comes in a handsome form factor and is relatively affordable coming in at US$6,450 - representing what could possibly be an alternative to the other very popular watch that may have landed on the moon. It wasn’t the first time that Tom represented the brand, having worn the square-cased Monaco back in 2021. Real world Spidey is also usually a fan of other horological heavy hitters, and his collection is known to include a Rolex Submariner “Kermit”, several iterations of the Rolex GMT II Master, the occasional Daytona 116500, a Patek Philippe Aquanaut as well as a Cartier Santos.

Although Zendaya can nowadays be seen plastered on billboards decked out in the latest offerings from Bvlgari (including the Octa Roma and Serpenti lines), she clearly displays a liking for classics from other brands including Patek Philippe, Rolex and Cartier. Her daily driver appears to be a two-tone Datejust that is lightly adorned with diamonds both on the bezel and champagne dial, a favorite of late among young Hollywood actresses. Another versatile piece in her arsenal is the small quartz Panthère in steel from the very popular house of Cartier. Prior to the Bvlgari endorsement, Zendaya could be spotted galavanting around New York with this petite number on her wrist. She must have fancied this design tremendously because she was also seen wearing what appeared to be an all gold variant as well. Whilst some girlfriends develop a habit of borrowing hoodies, Zendaya has a tendency to borrow Tom’s previously mentioned Daytona. After all, sharing is caring.

Young Bieber was rocking a variety of G-Shocks during his early days as a YouTube pop phenom, including a blinding white GLX5600-7, another white DW6900FS-8 as well as his signature purple DW6900SW-6JR - but as the boy wonder matured in front of the whole world, so did his taste in watches. Don’t get us wrong - there is always a place for one or two indestructible digital watches in the rotation, but with fame and fortune comes an appetite for more refined Swiss timepieces. One of his earliest acquisitions was an 18K yellow gold Rolex Day-Date. Whilst this is all well and good, the Biebs made the rookie mistake of decorating the classic “Presidential” with a plethora of aftermarket diamonds, as opposed to having them set at the factory. However, this may not matter in the slightest given the personal wealth he has amassed over years singing and dancing in the spotlight. Nowadays, Justin is often sighted wearing more demure pieces, including an approachable Cartier Santos on a GQ photoshoot which is positively understated when compared to his initial investment. His penchant for gold watches appears not to have waned, counting at least one gold Rolex Daytona and an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak “Jumbo” as part of his collection.

His wife, model and it-girl Hailey Bieber, has been setting trends for young consumers looking to invest in their first mechanical watch. The Rolex Datejust (in a range of different sizes) pairs well with her laid back style, but specifically the 28 ‘Lady-President’ version seems to be the favorite and receives the most time on wrist. Similar to her husband, many of the timepieces in her collection are also gold - including the aforementioned 28mm daily beater, a Day-Date 40 in Everose and a midsize Datejust 31 with a remarkable mother of pearl dial and diamonds on the indices and bezel. Of course, no celebrity collection is complete without the much beloved Audemars Piguet Royal Oak and hers, a gift from Justin, features a diamond pave case. For us, the highlight of the collection is a Rolex Day-Date 36 with a vivid turquoise stone dial, a configuration that is reminiscent of the new release from Swiss neighbors Audemars Piguet

Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar and Kiari Kendrell Cephus - better known as Cardi B and Offset, respectively - are notoriously extravagant gift givers. From half a dozen Chanel purses to rare Lamborghinis, grand gestures appear to be their shared love language. Among the many presents exchanged over the years, Offset procured an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Double Balance Wheel Openworked for Cardi B for Valentine’s Day. Cardi admits that her collection was not always as refined as it currently is, indulging in many Patek Philippes and Audemars Piguets that have been blanketed in aftermarket diamonds which have been known to negatively affect the value of such timepieces. The tide turned upon her acquisition of a Patek Philippe World Time Ref. 5230G “New York” edition back around 2017. This piece made sense on many levels - overtly paying homage to her New York roots whilst acknowledging her status as a jetsetting artist touring constantly around the globe. Determined to remain within the lane of factory only watches, Cardi showed off a covetable rose gold Patek Philippe Nautilus Chronograph ref. 5980/1R on her Instagram next to a slightly confusing assortment of roses and pudding. Here’s hoping that she didn’t proceed to customize this one with aftermarket diamonds.

Quietly savvy with his watch purchases is one-third of the Migos, Offset - rest in peace, Takeoff. To match with his wife, the Atlanta native has in his vault a Patek Philippe 5711/113p-001 Emerald Nautilus which, as the name implies, has a stunning emerald baguette set dial and bezel. This particular makeup is exceedingly rare and is rumored to be one of only five produced. Another highlight of the collection is the incredible Rolex Cosmograph “Rainbow” Daytona in 18K rose gold with a gradient sapphire bezel and diamond set case, one of the most decadent and in-demand modern Rolex models to be released in recent times. To put things into perspective, each of these watches could be traded for a mansion with plenty of change to spare.

The cherry on top must be the custom pink diamond-encrusted Richard Mille gifted by Cardi B and Offset to their daughter, Kulture, for her third birthday. The ridiculous miniature Richard Mille reportedly cost upwards of US$250,000 and is classified as an “investment” by her parents. Celebrities - they’re just like us!

The most diverse collection on this list belongs to the power couple that is Rihanna and A$AP Rocky. For those who are young enough to remember, Rihanna wore a now discontinued version of the Piaget Polo in her music video for “Take a Bow”. The current edition of the Piaget Polo retains many design elements of its predecessor, and is proving to be a popular choice amongst collectors that wish to venture off the beaten path. Since 2017, the Fenty founder has been the face of Chopard and frequently wears their Happy Sport timepiece on both red carpets and swimming pools. Over the course of her career, Rihanna has also favored the Rolex Day-Date models but perhaps the most interesting is her wonderfully geometrical Rolex King Midas in 18K gold, which was originally designed by the legendary Gérald Genta.

During the recent Louis Vuitton show, Rihanna and Rocky sat front row to support their friend and peer Pharrell. Their eccentric Louis Vuitton outfits were definitely eye-catching but it was the necklace worn by Rihanna that stole the show. Before you ask - no, Wristcheck is not diversifying into fine jewelry just yet, as this choker was in fact a concept piece conjured up by the singer herself in collaboration with jeweler-turned-watchmaker Jacob & Co. In true Bad Gal Riri style, the timepiece featured a Flying Tourbillon function and 42-hour power reserve, neatly paved in 339 baguette diamonds. Not so much a wrist watch; more like a neck clock.

Rapper and de facto leader of the A$AP Mob, Rocky, has developed a reputation as a fashion maven with eclectic taste - or in his own words, the “Fashion Killa”. Like a few of his contemporaries, he is also one of the lucky few that can say that they have a Everose Gold Rolex Rainbow Daytona in their possession. His ability to mix high with low is most admirable, and this is perfectly exemplified by the Smile Watch by Japanese denim experts, Kapital. No fancy movements here, this handsome watch comes on a black NATO strap and can be found on the secondary market not far above its retail price of US$200.
