Here’s a selection of our favorite watches for the most deserving woman in your life

Mums always deserve more thanks than they get, which is why Mother’s Day is such an important day of the year. Not only is it a chance to remind them of how much you appreciate them, but also how grateful you are to have been nurtured into adulthood by their guiding hands.

While you could pick them up a nice bag or book a table to enjoy a special meal, there’s nothing quite like a watch to remind someone how much you enjoy spending time with them. If you’ve been thinking about how to celebrate your Mum this year and haven’t yet decided what you’ll do, it’s worth considering a special watch that she can wear any day she chooses.

Because we’d hate to leave you without at least a couple of options, here are ten timepieces that would make the perfect gift this Mother’s Day.

Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Two-Tone

For the Mum that’s bold, isn’t afraid of making a statement and appreciates well-made objects that can be worn every day, then the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Two-Tone 14470SA could be a perfect choice. It’s an undisputed classic through and through but sized at 33mm and in a blend of gold and steel, there’s a certain appreciation for the opulence of the 80s in this timepiece.

Another element that makes the Royal Oak so compelling is just how comfortable it is on the wrist, carefully designed by the legendary Gerald Genta for its integrated case and bracelet to drape elegantly around the wrist. Powered by the automatic caliber 2150 and featuring a darker gray dial that offsets the gold bezel, it's a piece that speaks to self-assured confidence.

Cartier Must de Cartier Blue

2. Cartier Must de Cartier Blue.jpg
Cartier Must de Cartier Blue

Miles Davis’s seminal jazz album Kind of Blue preceded the original Must de Cartier collection by exactly two decades, but despite the dial tone of this contemporary reissue, there’s nothing melancholy about its presence on the wrist. First launched in 2021 alongside a red and green version, the modern Must de Cartier is arguably one of the best Cartier timepieces you can own today, both in terms of the value it presents and its timeless styling.

Featuring a finely polished stainless steel case that measures 25mm in width and 33mm in length, its shape is one of the few true icons in the world of watch collecting and this example without Cartier’s quintessential Roman numerals has a more modern appeal to it. While some might protest at a good watch without a mechanical movement, the calibre 157 quartz movement enjoys a long battery life and without a seconds hand, won’t be able to tick you off. Pun intended.

Rolex Oyster Perpetual Tiffany Blue

The Rolex sports category is one of the hottest that the Swiss watchmaker offers today and within this rarified range, the Tiffany Blue has become a contemporary classic. With a larger presence on the wrist than other members of the Oyster Perpetual family, this 41mm example puts its robin egg blue dial on full display, catching the eye of those in the know, but remaining under the radar of the average person on the street.

While not overtly feminine, the Tiffany Blue Oyster Perpetual isn’t encumbered by the overt masculinity of the Submariner or the Daytona and wears all the better for it, secured to the wrist with the enduringly comfortable oyster steel bracelet. What it does share with the Submariner, however, is Rolex's best-in-class calibre 3230 movement that serves up an impressive 70 hours of power reserve. As far as an everyday watch for your Mum could go, it doesn’t get much better than this.

Bulgari Serpenti Seduttori

4. Bulgari Serpenti Seduttori White Dial.jpg

Enduringly elegant, with just a hint of serpentine seduction, the Bulgari Serpenti Seduttori blurs the lines between day and night as a timepiece that gives the impression of discerning taste under the noonday sun and chic sophistication beneath the warm glow of a cocktail bar candle. With clear ophidian inspiration, a Bulgari motif grounded in ancient symbolism that traces its roots back to the 1940s, this most recent expression of the Serpenti features a 33mm stainless steel case integrated with an artfully crafted scale-like bracelet.

Just like the everyday metal its made in, the opaline dial of this Serpenti Seduttori is far from overt and subtly complements the applied steel Roman numerals, while the cabochon-cut pink rubellite set into the crown offers a modest detail to catch the eye. For the graceful Mum who moves through the world with ease, the Serpenti Seduttori is an ideal match.

Ballon Bleu Rose Gold Diamond Silver Dial

If your Mum already has an everyday watch that she loves, perhaps you could add a little dressiness to her collection. Another classic design from the masters of shapes at Cartier, the diamond dial expression of the Ballon Bleu makes for a special evening watch whose poised presence on the wrist is matched only by its uncompromising asymmetry.

Crafted from rose gold, the Ballon Bleu features a distinctive blue cabochon-shaped crown that’s guarded by an extension of the circular shape of its case. Measuring 36mm in diameter, it wears slightly smaller on the wrist thanks to its integrated leather strap, while being powered by a mechanical self-winding movement.

Rolex Datejust 31 Two-toned Gold and Stainless Steel

Two-tone timepieces are returning to vogue with a vengeance in recent years and as far as classics within the category go, a gold and steel Datejust is about as good as they come. With a touch of precious metal prestige, but remaining far from gaudy or over the top, this Rolex enjoys a timeless design that your Mum can wear for decades to come.

Featuring a modestly proportioned 31mm case, two key elements that should be celebrated are its iconic fluted bezel and Roman numeral hour markers that combine to create a watch worthy of an heirloom. Powered by the mechanical calibre 2135, its 42 hours of power reserve and 100m of water resistance make for an everyday classic.

Piaget Possession Rose Gold Silver Dial

Just as Piaget is a watchmaker well-known for prowess in ultrathin movements and elaborately cut stone dials, the brand’s credentials as a jeweler are some of the best in the world with craftspeople capable of producing some of the most spectacular precious metal objects there are.

With Piaget’s Possession collection both watchmaking and jewelry expertise is on full display and this timepiece celebrates both, with its 29mm rose gold case and carefully set diamond at 12 o’clock. Powered by a reliable and long-lasting quartz movement and featuring a dial infused with delicate elegance, this Piaget Possession enjoys a versatility that could see it worn from the business meeting to the black-tie dinner and everywhere in between.

Cartier Ronde Excertree

For the Mum who isn’t afraid to make a statement that is both confident and chic in equal measure, this Cartier Ronde Excentree immaculately set with diamonds could be the perfect timepiece. Another brand with a world-class resume for both watchmaking and jewelry, the Ronde Excentree demonstrates prowess across both disciplines, as well as Cartier’s well-known mastery of shape and proportion.

The exploded asymmetrical Roman numerals are immediately eye-catching, while the small hands maintain a sense of restraint within the design. Measuring 36mm in diameter, the case is vertically symmetrical thanks to the absence of a crown and the time-setting corrector integrated directly into the caseback. An evening watch of unrivaled excellence.

Chanel J12 Electro Ceramic Steel Black Dial

If your Mum is as fashion-forward as Anna Wintour and has a wardrobe filled with timeless staples from Chanel and other great houses, the perfect compliment to any tailored outfit is this undeniably modern Chanel J12 Electro. Executed in gleaming polished black ceramic with a case that measures 33mm in diameter, its sleek presence on the wrist is lightweight and luxurious.

To contrast the midnight black of the case and bracelet, the dial and bezel feature a rainbow gradient of colors around its circumference that add a pop of brightness to this otherwise stealthy timepiece. Powered by a quartz movement and enjoying a robust 200m of water resistance, it’s a timepiece that can be paired with any ensemble.

Omega Constellation Quartz Blue Dial

Last, but certainly not least, is this whimsical Omega Constellation that also celebrates the duality of two-tone timepieces. Measuring 25mm in diameter, it doesn’t demand attention but enjoys details that reveal themselves the closer you inspect it, from the gold Roman numeral engraved bezel to the subtle shape of the integrated case and bracelet.

Perhaps the most attractive element of this Constellation, however, is the speckled deep blue dial that reminds me of the night sky and the diamonds set into the hour markers for a subtle sparkle. Powered by a quartz movement, it’s an everyday timepiece for the Mum with an eye for detail.
