About Montblanc
The Founder
Increasingly well-known for its travel luggage and vintage-inspired watchmaking, Montblanc was founded in Hamburg in 1906 by engineer August Eberstein and financier Alfred Nehemias.
Named for the tallest mountain in Western Europe, the brand initially came to prominence for its high-quality writing instruments; with Eberstein and Nehemias launching the popular Meisterstück line in 1924.
Now a subsidiary of the Richemont Group, Montblanc is currently helmed by CEO Nicolas Baretzki, who has been instrumental in appointing high-profile ambassadors such as actor Cillian Murphy and renowned mountaineer Nirmal Purja.
