F.P. Journe

F.P. Journe’s emphatic motto, Invenit et Fecit (“he invented it and made it”), is a sentiment most assuredly echoed in its practice – each watch movement boasts an original caliber that has been entirely invented, constructed, and assembled in their Geneva workshops. Founded in 1999 by the eponymous François-Paul Journe in Geneva, the manufacture specializes in complex precision chronometers, with a limited annual production run of approximately 800 wristwatches.

Journe promises quality over quantity: each piece is produced by a single craftsman, and can take up to a year to complete. F.P. Journe, a skilled watchmaker himself, draws upon his own historical knowledge as well as savoir-fare deeply rooted in historical techniques, coupled with both research and innovation. 

Featuring movements crafted out of 18k rose gold and cases made out of platinum, Journe’s watches are all about understated elegance.

Over the years, F.P. Journe has won seven distinctions at the GPGH in Geneva (including three “Golden Hand“ awards –the highest industry accolade for a watchmaker), as well as a plethora of global Watch of the Year awards.

Journe has also performed incredibly well at some of the recent auctions. The Astronomic Blue hammered for CHF 1.8 million at the Only Watch auction in 2019, and Christie’s sold a one-of-a-kind Grande et Petite Sonnerie Souveraine minute repeater in steel last year for USD 3.5 million.
