The Daniel Roth Tourbillon Rose Gold

A contemporary take on the legendary watchmaker’s favorite complication
THE WATCH

A triumphant display of haute horlogerie at its finest, the Daniel Roth Tourbillon Rose Gold masters both form and function. With a striking tourbillon and a newly-developed in-house movement, this masterpiece stays true to the exceptional craftsmanship and precision Daniel Roth has long been celebrated for.

THE TOURBILLON

THE TOURBILLON

Daniel Roth’s Foundational Complication

The tourbillon complication is intrinsically linked to the story of Daniel Roth and his eponymous brand. Having spent years studying the work and design language of Abraham-Louis Breguet — who developed the tourbillon — and eventually using this complication to set out on his own, the tourbillon remains dear to Daniel Roth to this day: making it the perfect complication to lead the revival of his brand.

THE LEGACY

An Award-winning Tourbillon

Just like it did in 1989, the modern iteration of the Daniel Roth Tourbillon made waves – winning the Tourbillon Watch Prize at the Grand Prix de L'Horlogerie de Genève 2024. Conceived exclusively for Daniel Roth, the new in-house manufacture calibre DR001 is manufactured entirely by La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton – hand-finished to perfection – with direct oversight from master watchmakers Michel Navas and Enrico Barbasini.
The rose gold dial features a guilloché en ligne design – also known as pinstripes guilloché, meticulously crafted by Kari Voutilainen's Comblemine dial workshop.
Daniel Roth’s signature 20-second scales, as well as its hour and minute parts, are crafted from solid 925 silver.
A hallmark of Daniel Roth Tourbillon watches, the offset tourbillon cage features a three-armed seconds hand, read alongside a tri-sectioned seconds scale on the dial.
THE MOVEMENT

In-house caliber DR001

Visible through its open caseback, the watch’s in-house caliber DR001 is a showstopper in itself. Offering clear view of the exceptional craftsmanship and finishing by La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton, who developed and assembled the movement, the black polish on its curved bridge contrasts beautifully with the Côtes de Genève on its larger plates, eliciting a striking visual effect and a stunning play on light.

THE BRAND

Founded in the late 20th century, Daniel Roth swiftly earned its reputation for its complex creations like tourbillons and perpetual calendars – all executed to the highest levels of finishing and craftsmanship.  With limited production runs, the brand has become a name synonymous with quality and exclusivity in all senses.

THE WATCHMAKER

Daniel Roth

Considered one of the most skillful watchmakers of his generation — alongside Franck Muller, Roger Dubuis, and Philippe Dufour — Daniel Roth is credited with reviving Breguet, one of horology’s greatest names. By defining the brand's modern design language, much of which is reflected in his own creations, Roth earned his reputation through his mastery of complex mechanical movements and complications.
THE REVIVAL
After revitalizing the Maison Breguet, Daniel Roth established his own workshop – which went on to achieve similar success. The Daniel Roth brand was eventually acquired by Bulgari in 2000, before becoming part of the LVMH group in 2011. Now, with the expertise of La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton, the Daniel Roth brand has embarked on a new chapter, bringing back the craftsmanship and signature designs that define Roth’s legacy.

This dynamic duo of master watchmakers, united by their shared passion for grand complications and highly complex mechanisms, founded La Fabrique du Temps. The workshop quickly gained recognition for its expertise in crafting intricate movements, eventually attracting the attention of Louis Vuitton, who went on to acquire La Fabrique du Temps - which now serves as the cornerstone of high horology within the LVMH group.
Kari Voutilainen.

Kari Voutilainen

The dial of the Daniel Roth Tourbillon Rose Gold is crafted in collaboration with Kari Voutilainen’s workshop, where each vertical line is hand-engraved using a straight-line engine. A highly respected figure in haute horlogerie, Voutilainen’s career began in Switzerland, where he trained as a watchmaker and refined his craft at some of the most prestigious workshops in the industry, like Parmigiani Fleurier. In the early 2000s, he established his own workshop, gaining recognition for his mastery of complex complications like tourbillons and unique time displays, as well as his exceptional finishing techniques, which often feature hand-engraving and guilloché work.
