The Founder

One of two sons of JCB Chairman Lord Bamford, George Bamford began his eponymous watch customization house back in 2016 - off the back of an experiment involving the application of DLC coating to his personal Rolex.

A lifelong tinkerer and noted car collector, Bamford has continued to steer the direction of his eponymous brand over the past 7 years.

In that time, he has pursued a variety of strategic partnerships with some of watchmaking’s most intriguing personas: including industry heroes like Jean-Claude Biver - who helped turn Bamford into the de facto customization firm for LVMH - and Hiroshi Fujiwara, the shadowy mastermind behind Japanese design firm Fragment.

History

Yet more living proof of the robust popularity of watch customization, Bamford is a London-based outfit specializing in aesthetic modifications and a tightly edited selection of its own approachable priced watches.

Famed for a sleek, black aesthetic (typified by the use of DLC finishing), the company has modified several iconic horological designs over the years - both for general audiences and individual, high-level collectors.

Some of Bamford’s most popular original collections include the travel-focused “GMT” line and the “B347”: single-pusher chronographs that celebrate the use of innovative materials through the lens of “retro modern” design.
