Corum was founded in 1955 by René Bannwart and his partner, the watchmaker Gaston Ries, in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. The brand quickly distinguished itself with its commitment to innovation, launching its first watch, the Corum Admiral’s Cup, in 1960. This model featured a distinctive dodecagonal (12-sided) case and became synonymous with sailing, appealing to yachting enthusiasts around the world.
In the 1970s, Corum gained international recognition for its bold designs and technical achievements, such as the introduction of the Golden Bridge in 1980, which showcased a transparent case and a linear movement, highlighting the beauty of its intricate mechanics. The brand continued to push boundaries in the 1990s and 2000s, experimenting with unconventional materials and designs, including the use of gold coins in its Coin Watch collection.
