Atelier Wen

Founding duo Robin Tallendier and Wilfried Buiron, two close friends with a shared passion for watches and Chinese watchmaking, started Atelier Wen in 2017. Robin’s love for watches began when he was 14. He worked at the French Chamber of Watchmaking in Shanghai and Christie’s in London. Given his serious interest in Chinese horology, he was appointed, in 2016, “Execution Expert” at the China Horologe Association (CHA), an organization that oversees and promotes the watch industry in China. Wilfred, on the other hand, is a true entrepreneur with expertise in multiple startups. He’s been in charge of Atelier Wen’s manufacturing and design.

The name “Atelier Wen” combines the French term for workshop (Atelier) and the Chinese word for culture (Wen). Proudly “made in China,” the brand has been established to redefine Chinese horology. Deeply rooted in the Chinese design ethos, Atelier Wen is perhaps one of the only few brands offering perfectly executed watches with handmade guilloché dials — by guilloché artisan Master Cheng — for a fraction of the price charged by most Swiss watchmakers. Porcelain Odyssey, the brand’s first collection, was inspired by traditional porcelain art. Since then, the brand has launched another collection called Perception, for which it also collaborated with Wristcheck to create the “Wristcheck x Atelier Wen Perception 傳承 Special Edition” in November 2022.
