About this watch

Found within the pantheon of greats, the Rolex Daytona has become ubiquitous as one of the most desirable timepieces to have ever been released. Within its 60+ year history, three generations have been produced, with the 2nd being known as the "Zenith" Daytona due to the source of its movement, the cal. 4030. A modified El Primero movement, the cal. 4030 is perceived as one of the best chronograph movements of all time, signifying the collaboration between two of the finest watchmakers: Rolex and Zenith. A wonderfully luxurious reference, the ref. 16528 we have here features a yellow gold construction and a brilliant white dial adorned with black-filled yellow gold Arabic numerals, which tie in with the black subdial peripheries. Furthermore, the “Zenith” Daytona we have here includes a coveted example of the famous “Inverted 6” dial. The “6” digit in the sub-register a 6 o’clock is printed upside down, thus resembling a “9”. This makes the watch quite a collectible item as the printing was later modified, and the “Inverted 6” was not seen again until the end of production of the “Zenith” Daytona. Found in excellent condition, this neo-vintage example features sharp lines and wonderfully tight end links reminiscent of the day it rolled out of Geneva.
