About this watch

Synonymous with excellence and reliability, Rolex watches are made to be worn every day. Built to last, these timepieces are distinguished by their distinctive and timeless aesthetics. The Oyster Perpetual Day-Date 40 is the ultimate watch of prestige. Adorned with a fluted bezel and the iconic presidential bracelet, the olive green dial would turn every head that comes across it. The dial is the distinctive face of a Rolex watch, the feature most responsible for its identity and readability. The case is made of polished 18kt white gold with a "Twinlock" crown featuring two sealed zones when the crown is screwed down: the first inside the tube of the crown, the second inside the winding crown itself. Beautifully assembled for a collector who looks for a sportier every day watch with a hint of colour.

About the brand +

Known for models such as the Submariner, GMT Master and the Cosmograph Daytona, Rolex has long been considered a collector's essential. Past releases by Rolex, including the Cosmograph Daytona "Paul Newman", the Ref 6062 "Bao Dai", the GMT Master ref. 1675 "Apocalypse Now", the ref. 6265 "Unicorn", have propelled into the top brands in modern day watch collecting.

Rolex – need we say more? It’s a household name sure to spark recognition across all corners of the globe, and, like its logo depicts, can without doubt be crowned the undisputed king of utilitarian Swiss watchmaking.

With its timepieces donned by the biggest names in the realms of sport, celebrity and even characters on the silver screen, it has nestled itself at the forefront of pop culture today, with models fondly nicknamed after icons like the ‘Hulk’, ‘Pepsi’ and ‘Kermit’, to name a few.

Although Rolex is the largest manufacturer of luxury Swiss chronometers in the world today, it was born into humble beginnings as a timepiece distributor in London, established by the 24-year-old Hans Wilsdorf in 1905. He eventually trademarked the name Rolex in 1908 and relocated its headquarters to Geneva, where Rolex is still based today.

At a time where wristwatches were but a whimsical daydream, Wilsdorf anticipated that timepieces were to one day be worn on the wrist, and, although they weren’t at the time, accurate.

To ensure precision and reliability of time-telling, Wilsdorf equipped his own timepieces with miniscule, intricate movements that had not been seen in the industry before.

Rolex has introduced a pioneering stream of world-firsts over the course of history. In 1926, it released the first waterproof and dustproof wristwatch ever -- the "Oyster".

1931 saw another epic feat from the titan: the invention of the world's first self-winding mechanism with a Perpetual rotor that captured kinetic energy from every minute movement of the wrist. This system revolutionised the watch industry and today acts as the beating heart of every modern automatic watch.

Other coveted models include the Day-Date, Submariner, GMT-Master and Daytona.

Reliable, durable and ever-so-aesthetically pleasing, Rolex has been and will continue to be loved by generations to come. A perfect gift for any special occasion – and certainly a crown for every achievement.
