Released in 2014 to celebrate 175 years of Patek Philippe, the Multi-Scale Chronograph ref. 5975R is a uniquely designed timepiece that paradoxically breaks from tradition and convention even when those have been two tenets of Patek's watchmaking prowess over those 175+ years. A chronograph with no subdials, the ref. 5975R is innovative in that it can measure pulse rate, distance, and speed. However, unlike most chronographs out in the market, it cannot measure events all too well - due to is its lack of subdials. With its design rooted in the practical uses for these multi-scale timepieces in the mid-19th century, the ref. 5975R is a wonderful celebration of Patek's heritage while introducing a design that is not often seen in a watch that won't be seen very often either, given its supply was limited to just 400 pieces.
