Patek Philippe

It's safe to say that no other brand in the industry is as universally revered or respected as Patek Philippe. The heavyweight reigns supreme in all areas from reputation, quality and prestige to savoir-faire.

One of the oldest manufactures in the world, Patek Philippe was founded in 1839 by Polish watchmaker Antoni Norbert de Patek, who began producing pocket watches in Geneva. In 1845, he joined forces with Adrien Philippe, son of a watchmaker, who was equally well-versed in the craft. The company was established as Patek Philippe in 1851.

Patek adopts a classical, refined approach to watchmaking, implementing an extraordinary level of craftsmanship into every timepiece: their enamelling, in particular, is unrivalled by any other brand. The manufacturer also excels in its geneses of chiming watches, Complications and Grand Complications, turning wristwatches into intricate, wearable pieces of art.

Equally a master of understated elegance, the Calatrava’s classic round faces exude timeless style. With over 200 different models, the brand caters to sport-watch enthusiasts as well: the Nautilus and Aquanaut models, with their signature ‘porthole’ design, are some of the most in-demand pieces in the world today and are often spotted on the wrists of celebrities and royalty alike.

Its extensive line-up of world-firsts include the invention of the watch crown in 1844, which revolutionised the mechanism of watch-winding in the industry: prior to this, movements were usually wound with a key. Later on in 1925, they introduced the first wristwatch with a perpetual calendar.

Patek Philippe also shattered the world record of the highest price ever paid for a wristwatch in 2019. The Grandmaster Chime 6300A-010 hammered in at 31 million Swiss francs at a watch auction.

Patek Philippe will forever be a name that denotes taste, class and wealth. Its rich heritage, artistry and unrivalled quality continue to set the bar in the world of horology.
