The Speedmaster Moonwatch is one of the world’s most iconic timepieces. Having been a part of all six moon landings, the legendary chronograph is an impressive representation of the brand’s adventurous pioneering spirit. Being such an icon, the brand took a long time to update the Moonwatch and did so carefully with small upgrades, both mechanical and cosmetic, which warrant calling this model a “New” Moonwatch. Essentially based on the design of the ref. 105.012, the new Moonwatch features a case dimension and beveled case back based on that reference. For vintage lovers, the bezel is made on stainless steel with an aluminium insert and features the “Dot-Over-Ninety” on the tachymeter scale. One of the biggest updates on the new Moonwatch is the bracelet which has been refined and slimmed down to add comfort and wearability as well as giving the watch a slight vintage look. The other big upgrade resides in the movement with the use of a Co-Axial Caliber 3681, making the watch Master Chronometer certified. Finally, the dial has also received an update with the black varnish dial welcoming back the “step” dial that Speedsters used to carry up until 1974. A better alignment of the words “Speedmaster” and “Professional” is visible as well as the presence of an applied Omega logo instead of printed.

A Speedmaster Moonwatch In Stainless Steel

One of the most iconic timepieces in the world, the Speedmaster Moonwatch is a legendary chronograph with a rich outer space history. Part of all six moon landings, the watch has come a long way to honor its glorious past and yet remain contemporary in its appeal. Housed in a 42mm steel case that is water-resistant up to 50 meters, this Speedmaster Moonwatch features a black dial and comes equipped with a sapphire crystal glass on the front and caseback.

The watch is powered by the Omega Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 3861, which delivers a power reserve of around 40 hours.
