While they might not be around any longer, HYT's timepieces have to go down as some of the most creative expressions of independent watchmaking ever to grace the industry. Challenging the very concept of time on a philosophical level, their timepieces feature displays filled with fluid that move through the watch to indicate the time. Here we have the H4 Metropolis that uses this fluid display to indicate the hours along with a sundial for the minutes at 12 o'clock and a power reserve indicator off to one side at 3 o'clock, and a running seconds propeller-style indicator on the other side at 9 o'clock. Unique with its large bellows to pump its fluid around and large 51mm titanium case to accommodate the unusual complication, the H4 Metropolis stands as a wonderful reminder of what independent watchmaking is all about.
